Contatto was born in 1985 in Turin as a marketing and communications agency, addressed to the pharmaceutical market. In 1994 the company has entered in the medical publishing field by starting Archimedia Edizioni division, offering a complete range of products and services.

The company is one of the first registered in the Ministry of Health to develop and organize E.C.M courses (Educazione Continua in Medicina - Continuous Medical Education, Legislative Decree no. 229/1999). The competence of the internal scientific committee covers all medical specialties, providing a complete and immediate support to the specific needs arising from the requirements of the medical profession in terms of scientific update. In December 2006, Contatto has organized a medical conference / ECM course at the Hilton Cavalieri of Rome. Since the Legislative Decree that governs the E.C.M. courses imposes a ceiling minimum class attendance in order to allocate the credits to physicians, Contatto has asked our company to take into service a system able to monitor the doctors real attendances in the course.

Infordata brought the MeetMe system, that is able to calculate in real time the exact number of the people actually present in the room and thus to elaborate the effective time attendance hours for each doctor. The system was chosen and it worked without a hitch by calculating the exact time attendance for over 500 physicians. The system was constituted as follows: a proximity card (RFID badge) hanged with a lanyard on the neck was given to each doctor. In close proximity of the two entrances in the conference room, on either side of the hall, were placed two proximity card readers GP90 able to detect the RFID badge’s PIN, in transit up to 120 cm distance. The two proximity card readers GP90 were connected to a PC, in which was installed a software application for managing the detected transactions and reports processing.

Being very sensitive, the system has read quite easily not just the individual transit of the doctors, but was able to distinguish even more contemporary passages of many people. In addition, it was also possible to detect the direction of transits, clearly defining both in-s and out-s.
